Welcome our new Herd Sires to the Farm!

Last week, we made the long trip down to the R.A. Brown Ranch in Throckmorton, Texas to pick up three new bulls to pass on their improved genetics to our next generation of grass fed beef. We got one Red Angus bull, and two SimAngus bulls.

Good morning, boys.

About their Red Angus bulls, R.A. Brown says “Red Angus is the most trouble free herd in our purebred program. We love their natural thickness, uniformity, fleshing ability and tremendous fertility. With some of the most sought after donors in the industry, our Red Angus herd has come to the forefront of the industry. We attribute this to disciplined breeding strategies of stacking proven AI sires, generation after generation, along with owning the best breeding stock we can find. We design these cattle to have calving ease with high growth in a moderately framed package, plus strong carcass traits, superior reproductive efficiency and adaptability to hot and harsh climates.”

For us, that means we have high hopes for this bull’s future get:

They sing similar high praises for their SimAngus bulls, “SimAngus are the very best of Angus, Red Angus and Simmental genetics combined into one. The breed complementarity is fantastic. You get the benefits of what each breed has to offer.”

These boys ought to compliment our Balancer and commercial cattle nicely as well:

Keeping superior beef genetics in our herd through both AI and live cover is only one of the management practices we utilize to maintain our premium quality grass fed and grass finished beef. Got questions about what else we do on the farm to get our beef to you? Please let us know through an email, social media post, or phone call. We would love to hear from you!
